Is the OSHA injury data I submit made public?

Short answer

Most of it. OSHA publishes the majority of data submitted through the ITA on its public ITA Data website.

The Form 300 and 301 fields for worker age, sex, date hired, emergency room treatment and inpatient hospital admission are withheld from publication.

29 CFR 1904.41 Read it on osha.gov.

Assume anything you submit can be read by anyone

Competitors, customers, prospective employees, journalists and prequalification reviewers can all read it, and some of them do. That is not a reason to submit less than the truth. It is a reason to make sure the record is accurate before it is filed, because it is the version of your safety performance the world will see.

This is also why the omissions matter

The withheld fields and the personal information you are told not to submit are different lists. Anything you put in a free-text field is not covered by either, and is published as written.
